Here are four positive happenings in NAB for which you can praise God!
From Dr. Rob McCleland on behalf of Bob Fast and the Executive Committee. Following the resignation of Dr. Rob McCleland, the Executive Committee of the General Council of the North American Baptist Conference met last week to discuss the process for hiring a new executive director and also maintaining the ministry effectiveness of the International Office during the coming period of transition. Following serious deliberations and prayerful considerations, the Executive Committee announced that Dr. Rev. Dan Hamil will serve as the interim executive director of the North American Baptist Conference during the search for a permanent executive director.
The North American Baptist Conference announced today that the Executive Committee has accepted the resignation of Dr. Rob McCleland as its CEO/Executive Director effective February 15, 2014.
Philippines Disaster Relief Tony Dunaway recently returned from Tacloban, Philippines where he served with a disaster response team led by Pastor Tony Bueno and Mayette Ativo-Bueno, Director of the Bicol Center for Christian Leadership (BCCL). The devastation left by Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) is widespread and the needs are incredible.
As the end of the year draws near, many will wish to give to the ministries of the North American Baptists, generously planting seeds for our missionaries and churches to preach the gospel, in word and deed, throughout the world in 2014. We are grateful to God for those who so faithfully spread God’s love through financially supporting NAB’s ministries. Thank you for giving! As you consider donating to NAB in tax year 2013, here are a few factors to keep in mind to make sure that we are able to give you a tax receipt for calendar year 2013:
Philippines Typhoon The North American Baptist Conference continues to receive financial gifts through our Disaster Relief fund to help victims of the Philippines Typhoon. $10,000 has already been earmarked to help those devastated by the storm. Our ministry partners at the Bicol Center for Christian Leadership are safe and already themselves providing water and clothing to those in need. In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan devastating areas of the Philippines, many in the North American Baptist family have expressed concern for the welfare of those connected to our ministries in the Bicol region of the Philippines.
The NAB Thanksgiving Offering is titled “Sow Now.” Our goal is for each NAB church to take part, in some way, in giving to this offering that helps expand our missional vision for the future. NAB leadership is striving to recruit, develop, and launch the next generation of spiritual sowers and harvesters. Our vision is to raise up hundreds of missional leaders in the next 10 years. This will require long-term commitment from a passionate team. Those of us working at the International Office and in Regional Ministries in the U.S. and Canada have this vision in sharp focus, and we want you to be a part of that team with us. To continue, we are trying to raise $80,000 of seed money.
“Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”Galatians 6:2
