One of the most exciting and heart wrenching realities about missionary life occurs when a missionary’s objectives on the field have been fulfilled, and they come to realize it is time to leave that ministry in good hands. Christopher and Ingrid Kidd, North American Baptist missionaries to Brazil, have come to that moment in their missionary careers.
Over eight years ago, NAB sent Christopher and Ingrid Kidd to serve as administrators of Chain of Love in Brazil. At that time, NAB and the Kidds agreed upon some specific goals for the Kidds as they prepared for ministry. First, NAB asked them to lead Chain of Love in the development of financial practices and budgeting that reflect the high standards of integrity as demanded by scripture. Christopher has led this endeavor with great skill and patience, and Chain of Love has come to see the tremendous benefit his leadership has brought to the financial administration of this ministry.
After these financial systems and standards were in place, the second goal was to develop a national worker to take over the administrative work. This piece is often difficult for missionaries to accomplish. God must bring the right person with the right gifting at the right time. Leadership thought this transition would take another year, but God surprised everyone.
This spring, God brought the right person—a national Brazilian—to the ministry, and she has advanced in the position with passion and skill. For the past few months, Christopher has mentored this new administrator and has increasingly delegated responsibilities. God has truly gifted Chain of Love with this national administrator.
The Kidds were not anticipating returning to Canada as early as this fall, but when considering their children’s educational needs and the timing of the school year—as well as some other significant factors—it was decided that the Kidds would leave Brazil and return to Canada in time for the start of school in September.
This is a tremendous transition for Chain of Love, for NAB, and for the Kidd family. While the Kidds will be greatly missed by the Chain of Love workers, the Chain of Love ministry is definitely stable and in good administrative hands. The ministry will continue to care for hurting and homeless children, providing them spiritual and physical restoration and healing.
Christopher and Ingrid will officially continue as NAB missionaries until February 28, 2015. Please pray for Christopher, Ingrid, and their children as they return to Canada. Pray for the sale of their home in Brazil, for the children’s transition to a new school, and for direction for employment for Christopher.
House Parents Needed in Cameroon
We are in urgent need of a couple to serve as house parents for students of the Rain Forest International School in Youndé, Cameroon. House Parents provide a “home” for students of missionaries as they attend middle school and high school. We are seeking to have the couple in Cameroon by July-August of 2015, so we need to find a suitable couple very soon. Please ask the Lord who you might encourage to explore this ministry. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if interested or for more information.
