NAB UPDATE - August 9, 2012

For months, we have been informing you of the move the NAB International Office would make from temporary offices at Oak Hills Church in Folsom, CA, to our permanent offices in Roseville, CA. Last week, the move became a reality as the staff gathered and boxed NAB office belongings and started to unpack and settle into new facilities. Instead of attempting to describe the walls, halls, and office layouts, we thought we’d provide you some images. Please use these photographs as a stimulus to pray for the staff and the work of the NAB International Office in reaching the world for Christ.

NAB UPDATE - June 11, 2012

Part of our role at the International Office is to evaluate the strategies and effectiveness of our NAB mission fields. We have been asked to provide leadership on behalf of our NAB churches, and I believe this leadership must include accountable stewardship and future planning. While one of the most energizing privileges of my job is to explore new mission opportunities (NEXT Nations) that the Lord may have for us as a conference of churches, one of the most delicate challenges is to bring change to an existing work. We all know that change is hard. But it is even more challenging when you effect change in a cross cultural setting.

How Is Your Focus?

The early church as described in the book of Acts lived incredibly in one accord, displaying doctrinal, financial, and ecclesiastical unity. That is until a controversy arose over unequal care between two groups of widows connected to the church. Some rightly voiced a complaint that the Hellenistic widows of the Jerusalem church “were being neglected in the daily distribution” of food (6:1). In response, the twelve Christ-appointed leaders of the church rolled up their sleeves and took to caring for these widows themselves. Or did they? No, instead they articulated clearly that they would devote themselves “to prayer and to the ministry of the word,” while designating others to oversee a just distribution system that provided care for all widows.

NAB Update - September 10, 2012

Greetings from the NAB International Office!

I am guessing the focus for many of us has already shifted to fall ministries… cooler weather… pumpkin spice latte’s… audit... well, maybe not the audit, but that is the reality for some of us.

Audit season has arrived yet again for NAB staff! September 1st launched us into a brand new financial year, but unfortunately the transition does not just happen that quickly. The coming weeks will be focused on year-end closing procedures, including final gift posting, expense processing, reconciling accounts, and assembling unbelievable amounts of documents for the auditors. For the first time in over eight years we have a new audit firm, so this year will be more time intensive as we bring the new auditors “up to speed” on NAB and our operations.
