SUMMARY:Gen Z Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Register for the Webinar\n \nAre you curious about the future of the Church? Are you struggling to understand this next generation and how to disciple and equip them to participate in the mission of your local church? Do you wonder how God might be calling and equipping Gen Z in this unique season? These are the kinds of questions we need to wrestle with and discuss as the NAB community. Gen Z is the future of the NAB\, and yet at the same time\, they are also the church now – so how might we as a conference of churches empower and equip these young leaders today? \nIn this webinar\, hosted by the NAB Emerging Leaders\, Paul and Tanya Gericke will guide us about who Gen Z is as a people group and culture\, provide clarity on their strengths and challenges\, and help us consider discipleship implications for this generation. We seek growth and development to help us come alongside and equip these young people. Whether you’re a ministry leader\, parent\, youth worker\, or member of Gen Z yourself\, you’re invited to join us for a pertinent discussion about each of our callings to participate in how God is stirring up this next generation for his Church. \nPaul and Tanya Gericke have been married for fourteen years and have spent most of that time working together as the co-field directors of the NAB mission in Romania. Over the past decade\, their ministry in Romania has focused on raising up the next generation of Kingdom leaders through a center called Camp Falcon Rock. Paul and Tanya have had the unique opportunity to disciple and equip Hungarian-Romanian young adults\, as well as North American young adults who have come to serve with them. Their work has led them on a journey of learning more about Gen Z leaders globally and the unique calling God has on this generation to participate in the mission of his Church. While Paul and Tanya serve in Romania\, this webinar will be focused on Gen Z youth in the West; both Paul and Tanya are pursuing doctoral studies at Kairos University focused on Gen Z research and leadership development. \nRegister for the Webinar

SUMMARY:The Spirit of Our Politics – an EYELET Webinar
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER FOR THE WEBINAR\n \nWe’re thrilled to announce that Michael Wear will join us for a webinar on May 14 to discuss his newest book The Spirit of Our Politics: Spiritual Formation and the Renovation of Public Life. Diving into today’s political landscape\, Wear draws from the insightful teachings of the late theologian Dallas Willard and his approach to spiritual formation regarding our engagement in the political sphere. \nMichael Wear is the founder\, president\, and CEO of the Center for Christianity and Public Life\, a nonpartisan\, nonprofit institution based in the nation’s capital with the mission to contend for the credibility of Christian resources in public life for the public good. For over a decade\, he has served as a trusted resource and advisor for various civic leaders on faith and public life\, including as a White House and presidential campaign staffer. Wear is a leading voice on building healthy civic pluralism in twenty-first-century America. He has argued that individuals’ spiritual health and civic character are deeply tied to our politics and public affairs. \nThe NAB’s emerging leaders team is hosting this event\, but everyone is welcome to join and earn some wisdom from this timely discussion. \nREGISTER FOR THE WEBINAR\nWe strongly recommend picking up a copy of Wear’s book to help you gain the framework for this discussion. You can find it on Amazon or directly from the publisher.

SUMMARY:Impact of Culture on Biblical Interpretation and Spiritual Formation
DESCRIPTION:The cultural lens through which we read and engage with Scripture impacts more of our interactions with one another in the church than we probably realize. A diverse church must recognize that methods of biblical interpretation have cultural perspectives; different cultures can approach the same text from different perspectives yet remain faithful to Scripture. As we engage with people across culture lines\, we will be better able to reach them when we are aware of our own cultural biases in interpretation and of their cultural perspectives. Further\, as we grow in our cross-cultural competence within the church\, we can grow to love and respect those of different cultures who have different interpretations of the same biblical text. \nJoin Wayne Stapleton\, VP of Cross-Cultural Engagement\, and Bethany Kaposhi\, Cross-Cultural Engagement Leadership Team member\, on February 16\, 2023\, as they host a discussion with Larry Caldwell\, professor of Intercultural Studies and Bible Interpretation at Kairos University\, and Lyndell Campbell-Réquia\, NAB missionary and seminary professor in Brazil. This hour-long interview (10:00–11:00 am PST) will be followed by a half hour of questions and answers from those attending (11:00–11:30 PST). \nBeing on mission means joining God where he is moving\, and sometimes that means he calls us to engage across cultural lines. This requires us to be sensitive and aware of our own cultural biases. Join us for this webinar to talk about how each of us bring our own cultural context to how we understand and read Scripture and how that impacts the way we follow Jesus and interact with one another. \nSign Up For the Webinar

SUMMARY:Backyard Pilgrim Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The idea of pilgrimage has been part of many faith traditions through the years\, including Christianity. It is often an experience that comes with a deep sense of solemnity and purpose\, along with a desire for wonder and discovery. People spend great deals of money and time traveling to distant places in order to have these supernatural encounters. But\, what if a similar experience could be possible right where you live – right in your own backyard? \nMatt Canlis\, the author of Backyard Pilgrim\, and the inspiration for the Godspeed film says that\, “The film GODSPEED ends where I pray your local pilgrimage begins. It is a pilgrimage not only to recover where you live and discover what God is already doing in your neighborhood\, but also to learn to live there as God’s child.” \nWe invite you to join us in the journey of becoming Backyard Pilgrims this February as we enter into the Lenten season. Starting the week of February 19\, we will be running two book study groups that will be walking through the book\, Backyard Pilgrim\, by Matt Canlis. The groups will be led by Deb Judas and Bob Baumann\, who are both members of the Missional Initiatives team and local church pastors. Groups will meet once a week\, over the course of 6 weeks to discuss what they are learning and how they are seeing God at work in their lives and in their neighbourhood. \nBeing part of one of these groups will give you an opportunity to go on this pilgrimage for yourself\, while also seeing if this is something that you might want to take your church through at a later date. Each day there is a reflection (the Bible path) and a time to get out into your community (to walk the parish path). It will give you new lenses in which to see both the scripture passages as well as the people and places in your neighbourhood. \nIn preparation for the groups\, you’re invited to join us for a webinar with Matt Canlis\, January 23rd at 10:00am Pacific. During the webinar you’ll get the opportunity to hear a bit more about Matt’s journey and we’ll explain more about what the Backyard Pilgrim journey looks like. \nFor more info on the book or the Godspeed video\, visit their website\, or take a moment to watch our Year of Bonfire Gathering with Matt in 2021.  \nSign up for the webinar here.\nIf you already know that you want to join one of our Backyard Pilgrim groups\, please complete this form.
