Dear Family and Friends,
As of this Fall, over 1,000 international students are now enrolled at Utah Valley University with nearly 40,000 students.
We were blessed to receive a “table in the hall” on campus from the Intervarsity staff at UVU twice in September. Bud was able to connect with international students and give them info on this ministry. Recently he was able to meet with the International Student Council and talk about Conversation Café. They have invited him to speak at the American Cultural Night this Spring.
There are various cultural nights on campus at UVU and it is a great way to meet students. They love that you would show interest in their culture and enjoy their food. I encourage you, if you have a university near you to find out when these events are held. It’s like a cross-cultural mission trip in one evening.
Thank you for your prayers as we plan several additional international student events this Fall & Winter—a Thanksgiving lunch following our Conversation Café on November 26 and another event for Christmas.
As I have experienced in the past that the most committed workers in this ministry are seniors. They love internationals and are patient and kind. Good connections have been made and we are looking forward to what the Lord will accomplish each week since we launched our ESL–Conversation Café in September.
As I serve as the NAB Cross-Cultural Equipper to train churches to minister to internationals, please pray for churches to grasp the vision and opportunity to reach the world right on their doorstep. To be very honest, where we live is a mission field as great as any on earth, and the attacks of the enemy are real and vicious. Please pray for the breakdown of strongholds and victory over the darkness.
We have been blessed to have several friends stop and stay with us in their journey through Utah. Will you?
