Review and Prayer – Day 40

Monday, Song of Shadows (Psalm 22:1–2, 6–8, 16–18)
No matter how sad the current song of your pain and suffering, know that God is there. In the person of Jesus Christ, he has lived the most painful of sad songs. When all hope is gone, the sad song of the shadow of the cross says so much. God has taken our sin upon himself and is sympathetic to our suffering. What area of your life do you need to be reminded that God is a God who is no stranger to your pain and suffering?
Tuesday, The Reason for the Shadow (Mark 15:33–39)
At the end of the day, we are the reason for the necessity of the cross. When Jesus called out to the Father, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” It was my name and your name that was spoken into the shadow of the cross; it was our sin that held him there. How should the reminder of Jesus’s great sacrifice for you change your life today?
Wednesday, My Shadow Borne by Another (2 Corinthians 5:21)
In the shadow of the cross, a great exchange took place; my sin for the righteousness of Jesus; the curse of the shadow of the cross upon me was exchanged for the blessing of the shadow of the cross freely given by Christ. God took him who knew no sin so that I might become the righteousness of God.
Thursday, Bearing the Shadows of Others (Amos 5:24)
We are called not simply to have righteousness but also to be righteousness. We are called to bring the Kingdom of God and his will to earth through being his righteousness right here, right now! Where is God calling you to be his righteousness?

Take some time to thank God that he understands and is familiar with our suffering. Praise Jesus that he lived the saddest of human songs. Thank him for coming to be rejected by humanity, have his hands and feet pierced, and be humiliated on the cross in order that we might have life.

Consider for a moment that Jesus came to save you!

You are the reason that he came to earth, and he would have done it only for you!

Praise Jesus for his willingness to change places with you.

Praise Jesus for exchanging your sin with his righteousness.

Pray that God would give us the strength and courage to be his righteousness in a world that desperately needs to see his love and glory.

Pray for motivation to move us from apathy to action and from lethargy to love!
