Sudden Loss of Dr. Jim Leverette

As a family of Baptist churches, we believe that God comforts those in the midst of grief and sorrow. With that belief in our hearts and minds, we are writing to inform you of the death of Dr. Jim Leverette on Monday, December 18, 2017.

Raised in an NAB minister’s family, Jim was connected to the NAB throughout his life. In his ministry years, he served as an NAB pastor, as an administrator and teacher at Edmonton Baptist Seminary (now Taylor Seminary), and, most recently, as the regional minister for the Alberta Baptist Association. Jim’s keen mind, acumen for organizational development, and pastoral heart will be greatly missed by the churches and leadership of our conference. More importantly, he was a dear brother in Christ for those who walked this journey of faith with him.

A more detailed obituary and details of the funeral arrangements for Jim will be sent at a later date. Please pray for Cheryl Leverette, the extended Leverette family, and associate Regional Minister Terry Fossen and the churches and pastors of the Alberta Baptist Association during this time of unexpected loss.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).
