Student Ministry Director – Pittsford Community Church
Pittsford Community Church is seeking a Student Ministry Director whose leadership and youth ministry vision match the church’s mission and exemplify the teachings of Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate will demonstrate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. This full-time role is for someone passionate about student ministry, involving participation in Sunday services, church meetings, and special events. The position also requires a high level of flexibility to respond to emergencies within the community or among church members.
Requirements and Qualifications
Responsibilities
- Lead the church’s efforts to minister with and to students aged 11 to 18.
- Recruit and develop volunteer leaders who support and assist the Director in completing ministry programs.
- Partner with pastoral staff to plan and prepare a creative program that supports the church’s vision and is feasible within the student ministry budget.
- Partner with parents in a way that supports and equips them in their role as their children’s primary spiritual leaders.
- Create and implement a strategic plan for the student ministry that includes the full counsel of God’s Word and addresses the spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental needs of students.
- Regularly lead students in short-term missions (local, domestic, and international).
- Willing to preach and teach the Bible during adult worship services when requested.
- Participate in all staff meetings and retreats.
- Participate in ongoing education and training opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pastoral team.
Qualifications/Characteristics
- Exhibits a strong walk with God and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Has experience in ministering to and mentoring youth, including leading and training volunteer leaders, developing programs, and managing budgets.
- Agrees with and supports our statements of faith and values.
- Holds a commitment to the vision and mission of the church.
- Demonstrates skill in preparing and delivering clear and concise written and spoken messages, letters, emails, and other forms of communication.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills, including conflict management.
- Maintains confidentiality where appropriate.
- Stays informed about current trends in youth ministry and, with discernment, incorporates them as appropriate.
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in a related field, with an education or ministry degree preferred; other experiences will also be considered.
- Practices a lifestyle consistent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Timothy 3:1–13; 2 Timothy 2; Titus 1:5–9).
