Family Pastor – Ridgewood Church

The Family Pastor’s primary responsibility is to minister to and equip our church’s children, students, and their families.

What is the Role (day to day)?

• Planning and executing children and student ministry
• Communication and follow up with families
• Building relationships with community organizations and schools
• Working church leadership to discern God’s leading at Ridgewood
• Working with the lead pastor in planning and implementing mission/vision of church
• Congregational care alongside the lead pastor
• Opportunities for preaching

What are the skills?

Ministry Minded:

• Effective communicator of Scripture
• Representing the church well in public-facing settings
• Vision-casting for children/student ministry direction
• Event and program planning (curriculum, camps, VBS, youth nights, etc.)

 
Collaborative:

• Ability to work under and collaborate with the Lead Pastor/elders
• Recruiting, training, and shepherding volunteer teams
• Delegation and empowering others (not just doing ministry solo)

 
Communicative:

• Comfortable communicating with kids, teens, and adults in age-appropriate ways
• Scheduling and logistics coordination through communication/planning tools (email, group texts, church management software, social media)

 
Relational:

• Ability to build trust and love children, students, and families with a sensitivity to diverse family structures and needs

Requirements and Qualifications

• Has accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, characterized by a vibrant prayer life and commitment to living out biblical teachings.
• Has a deep commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
• A deep understanding of and commitment to the Bible and Christian theology.
• Meets the qualities and qualifications of a pastor (overseeer) as described in 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:6–9, and 1 Peter 5:2–4.
• Some Bible and ministry experience and/or education preferred.
