The unrest and conflict that began in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon in late 2016 continues to spread and intensify. Caught in the crossfire are thousands of innocent civilians who suffer death, injury, destruction of property, arrest without charge, and displacement from their homes. Current United Nations estimates indicate more than 700,000 internally displaced persons.
NAB missionaries in Cameroon, together with the Cameroon Baptist Convention, have the opportunity to tangibly meet needs of victims of the conflict. Some of our medical missionaries tend to the wounded on a daily basis. Additionally, the NAB has created the Cameroon Crisis Relief Fund in support of the CBC’s efforts to raise funds to assist in alleviating some of the suffering. Funds are being used to assist payment of medical bills of the wounded, education for displaced children, food for prisoners, and trauma resilience counseling and training.
We are grateful for the gifts that have come in: God is using them in significant ways! However, as the conflict continues, the suffering and needs are increasing. Please consider what you can give to assist those who are suffering in Cameroon.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40 NIV)
Please continue to pray and join us in this important Kingdom relief effort!
