Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries – Christ Community Baptist Church

This full-time position is responsible for leading a growing youth ministry, providing Christ-centered, enthusiastic leadership to recruit, support, and maintain participation of the youth. The youth pastor will collaborate with the family pastor and ministry teams and provide leadership to recruit, train, and support volunteers. This position reports to the family pastor / lead pastor. Other areas of ministry may include Life Groups, Adult Ministries, Parenting, & other duties as necessary.

Youth Responsibilities

The Youth Pastor will lead youth discipleship efforts through the creation and support of Christ-centered, growth-oriented ministries. Programs, ministry volunteers, and the total people involved should grow as the church grows.

  • Develop a relationship with youth to encourage a deeper relationship with Christ. This includes group interactions, connection on social media, one-on-one and informal get togethers, and attending youth’s activities outside of church.
  • Encourage and equip the youth to be leaders at CCBC, as well as the community, guiding them and praying for how God has gifted each one.
  • Recruit, coordinate, equip, and support adult volunteers to sponsor activities. When appropriate, partner with other Christian groups.
  • Meet with Youth Ministry Team at least quarterly to plan upcoming events.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the youth group and their parents through a variety of methods, such as phone, email, bulletins, website, social media, etc.
  • Encourage and shepherd youth to participate in appropriate missions. Lead and direct a mission trip and a retreat each year.
  • Maintain a relationship with CCBC families.
  • Attend staff meeting to coordinate youth ministry with the entire church calendar.
  • Work within designated church budget and monitor expenses.
  • All other tasks deemed appropriate by the family pastor.

 

Other Ministry Responsibilities

Pastor of Youth & Family Ministries will work with the lead pastor to establish other areas of ministry according to staff gifting and ministry needs. These responsibilities may grow or change as he gains experience. Potential areas of ministry may include:

  • Sharing in the larger shepherding ministry of the Elder Team, which may include participating in the preaching/teaching ministry of the church.
  • Offering pastoral care and encouragement to youth, youth leaders, and families of youth.
  • Coming alongside parents with students and children of all ages to help them in their parenting by presenting biblical teaching and spiritual mentoring through one-on-one settings, parenting classes, and/or small groups.
  • Recruiting and training of Life Group leaders and fostering the launch of additional Life Groups.
  • Working with leaders of Men’s & Women’s Ministries to coordinate events and discipleship opportunities.
  • Other administrative or shepherding duties as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

Character

Personal life must reflect a high ethical, Christian standard, including, but not limited to, social media sites, informal gatherings outside of church, and interpersonal relationships. The pastor of Youth & Family Ministries must meet the biblical qualifications of an Elder in 1 Timothy 3:1–7.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry or theology (M.Div or relevant MA degree preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with youth and leading Christian ministries or small groups
  • Experience recruiting and organizing volunteer networks
  • Any combination of work experience related to job description
