As many of us transition from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time this Sunday, please note that all of the western Candian provinces will now be staying on DST year-round, putting British Columbia’s Pacific time zone an hour earlier than the western US states in the Pacific time zone. (Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and western Ontario are also staying on DST.)
As always, because the NAB’s office is located in Roseville, California, we will continue to use the US Pacific time zone as our referencee point for office hours and online events. (All in-person events default to the time zone in which they take place in.) For more on this time change transition, the CBC has a helpful explainer.
Three Questions is a semi-regular series introducing individuals across the NAB by asking them about their story, their ministry, and what they are learning. These features on members of our NAB family also provide great opportunities to pray for them as we get to know more of their story. This week, we hear from Shamoir Griffin, senior pastor of Neshaminy Valley Baptist Church in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
What’s your story?
I’m originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, where I grew up in the inner city. The Lord has taken me on a journey that I could not have planned for myself. Over the years, I have served in several ministry roles, including media ministry, young adult ministry, and family ministry. Most recently, my family and I relocated from Texas to Pennsylvania, where I now serve as the senior pastor of Neshaminy Valley Baptist Church.
I’m married to my wife, Alexcia, and we have three daughters. I’m passionate about Christ-centered, expositional preaching; discipleship; and helping believers grow in their understanding of God’s Word. Looking back, I can see the Lord’s providence throughout my life, using both joyful and difficult seasons to prepare me for where he has placed me today.
What’s ministry like for you?
I’m currently beginning my first senior pastorate at NVBC. Because I’m entering an established congregation with its own history, relationships, and ways of doing things, much of my ministry right now involves listening, learning, building trust, and getting to know the people God has called me to shepherd. . . .
Join Wayne Stapleton and Parry Stelter on November 9, 3:30–4:30 (PST), as they explore the intersection of Indigenous experience, grief, Christian faith, and reconciliation. The hour-long conversation will use Parry’s personal and family story as an Indigenous Christian and the story of Peter and Cornelius in Acts 10 to talk about grief as a shared human experience and how to approach cross-cultural ministry with humility so we are prepared not only to share Christ but also to listen, learn, build relationships, and allow God to transform us through the encounter.

What does it mean – and why is it essential – for us to move away from efficient, results-driven church models toward slower, relational, Spirit-led ways of being? Join Deb Judas and Luke Miller from the Missional Initiatives Team on November 19, 10:00–11:30 a.m. (PST), as they walk through what it looks like to reorient our focus to being formed into the likeness of Christ.
Together, we will think through ideas such as:
- Moving from performance to formation.
- Moving from activity to apprenticeship.
- Movement from believing to being sent out.
- Reflection on who and what is forming your people and who do you want them to become.
- How spiritual practices that shape us over time and help us discern where God is already at work and how we might join him there.
- How we do this as the people of God together.

For a number of years now, the NAB has been guided by Four Ministry Ends, directives we believe God has called us to as a conference. These state that NAB churches will:
- be trained for missional ministries
- seek opportunities to engage cross-culturally
- develop spiritual leaders
- send and support international missionaries.
Looking at all God is up to in the NAB – a new church planter network in Brazil, Year of Equipping and Blue Ocean cohorts, training for cross-cultural conversations, upcoming FUSE trips with Gateway, and much more – we see the hallmarks of each of these. Your ongoing donation of $5, $100, or any other amount will help, in part, to resource missionaries, local churches, and leaders so we can seek these Ends together as a conference of churches.
