Praises
- Serbia Gateway Team Training Retreat (and Serbia Mission Trip) – First Baptist of Emery, South Dakota – Our brief time together for this retreat provided the team with cross-cultural, Roma- and Serbia-specific information in order to serve the children/youth of the Donji Petrovci village and the staff and volunteers of ZZ Serbia. Both the Roma village children and ZZ Serbia were grateful for the effort, time, and resources the team shared (especially the bells!).
- Argentina Field Visit – Salta – This was a two-part trip of connection with sister-church partners Lucio and Amanda Gallo and David Vargas, which also provided me time at two ICM churches (Iglesia Morosini and City Church) and time with the students of the ESEF Bible Institute. I even had the opportunity to challenge the 3rd and 4th year students to consider applying to join our Gateway FUSE Trips (see below)! Hispanics for Christ leaders Geoff Hartt and Tony Campos joined me for the second part of this trip, which included a mission conference where leaders from five nations were represented in Salta. ESEF Bible Institute students were also a part of this mission conference as well. This was an amazing time as the students and these leaders were attending the mission conference and being challenged to be sent as missionaries into all the world! Amazing!
- Sister-Church Partnership Orientation – Christ Community Church in Puyallup, Washington – I had a great group of leaders attend this orientation excited to explore this new way of engagement in international missions! Great interaction and excitement for entering into this journey.

Prayer
- Romania Field Visit with new NAB Romania missionaries – I’m looking forward to accompanying Jonathan and Jeni Bransford from New York and introducing them to our Hungarian Baptist friends in Romania, where they will be serving! Please pray for us and for this important time for the Bransfords, our Global Mission Partners, our current NAB missionaries, and of course, the Hungarian Baptist leaders, pastors, Camp Falcon Rock staff, and Hungarian Baptist church members we anticipate meeting while we’re there.
- (First Ever!) NAB Gateway Online Short-Term Mission Leader Workshop Training – Please pray for this event (TBD in September). This is Gateway’s long-standing team leader training, and we are trusting/hoping for a number of mission trip leaders to participate in this first-ever, online-only event (maybe even you or someone you know!)! Registration will be available soon on this page.
- Hungary and Serbia Trip – Please pray for this upcoming time! In Hungary, I’ll attending our annual MEK (CHE) board meeting; and in Novi Sad, Serbia, the annual CHE Euronet conference will be taking place with CHE teams from all over the Balkans and Central Europe.
- Alberta Mission Conferences Trip – Please pray as I plan to be in both Edmonton and Trochu for the Greater Edmonton Mission and Central Alberta Mission Conferences. These conferences include multiple opportunities for connection with partnering churches and individuals for NAB Gateway.
- Philippines FUSE Trip in July 2027 – NOW LESS THAN A YEAR AWAY! THE COUNTDOWN IS ON! – Please continue to pray for applicants to join this upcoming Gateway FUSE Team to the Philippines! (See nabonmission.org/fuse for more info or pass along this opportunity to a young person you know).
- For all of Gateway’s ongoing sister-church partnerships in various stages of development and engagement in Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Mexico, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, Hungary, Romania, and Cameroon.

Could a trip to the Philippines be in your future or the future of someone you know?!
If you follow this newsletter at all, you’ve no doubt heard about a FUSE Team (as we call it at NAB Gateway) going to the Philippines in July/August 2027. But maybe you need a little more information or just a ‘nudge’ to let you know that, YES, this invitation is actually for you; and YES, you should consider going! Regarding ‘a little more information’, here’s some of that. . .
Where
Legazpi City is a city of about 250,000 people in the southeast region of the Philippines and part of the Bicol Region of the country. The Bicol Center for Christian Leadership is the host ministry.
What
This short-term FUSE Team will serve in various capacities alongside current ministries/outreaches that BCCL does, such as art ministry, Biyaya outreach ministry, coffee shop, Hindu men outreach, and missional prayer.
When
The Philippines trip itself will be July 27–August 10, 2027. However, team members will also be expected to submit an application and complete a Zoom interview by December 2026, meet once per month (March–July 2027 on Zoom with the team), complete assignments and preparations, and attend the FUSE Team Training Retreat July 24–26, 2027 (at a location to be determined).
Who
This FUSE Team will be hosted by Claire and Tim Marker, NAB missionaries serving at BCCL in Legazpi City for most of the past 10 years. Claire is a native of Legazpi City, and Tim is seminary trained , having taught frequently at BCCL and was formerly with OMF.
The FUSE Team itself is expected to be comprised of young adults from across North America who are looking for missional experiences and an opportunity to understand more fully what a future career in missions could be like.
NAB Gateway will provide an experienced team leader for this mission experience and trainers who will prepare the team to serve well in a cross-cultural setting.
How Much
The total cost per person will be approximately $3,000–3,200 USD (plus project costs), which includes airfare, ground transportation, taxes, visas, food, lodging, and administrative fees. Fund raising assistance will also be provided, and though personal contributions are acceptable, all team members will be encouraged to fundraise and develop a team of financial/prayer supporters.
