We are delighted to announce two new NAB missionary appointees: Nelson Mukiza serving Kenya and John serving South Asia.
Nelson Mukiza
Nelson has been an NAB pastor since 2009, when he planted Fresh Manna Fellowship in Edmonton, Alberta. Fresh Manna Fellowship eventually merged with another NAB church – Steele Heights Baptist Church, in 2021. Prior to Fresh Manna, Nelson also planted churches in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Canada, and Kenya. He has extensive experience in social work in Canada, working among people with addictions, those experiencing homelessness, refugees, and new immigrants. His work amongst immigrants is aided by his fluency in several languages, including French, English, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Kinyamulenge, Lingala, and some other African languages.
Nelson’s field of service will be Kenya, where Steele Heights Baptist Church has a sister-church partnership. He will work to advance church planting, pastoral and ministry leadership training, and holistic community development among the refugee population in Kenya. He has a vision to see local churches planted in Kenya and beyond and the national leaders raised up to lead their churches. He is very passionate about using a holistic approach to serve individuals, families, and communities by addressing their physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and mental well-being.
We are especially excited to welcome Nelson to the NAB family of missionaries and looking forward to his ministry in Kenya and the surrounding region. That region in Africa has many refugees who have been forced to leave their homes because of war, persecution, violence, poverty, and disaster. With his deep experience and intimate knowledge of the region, Nelson is truly God’s gift as we develop the NAB’s mission in Kenya and beyond in East Africa.
Pray for Nelson as he develops a team of prayer and financial supporters who will partner with him in raising up indigenous leaders – evangelists, pastors, church planters – and ministering to the needs of refugees in Kenya. You can learn more about Nelson and his mission at his profile on the NAB missions website. To support him financially, you can give in either Canadian dollars or US dollars.
John*
We are excited to welcome John to the family of NAB missionaries. John has served as an adjunct faculty at Taylor Seminary in Edmonton, Alberta, where he taught evangelism, church planting, and cultural anthropology. He is a respected missiologist – he holds a PhD in Missiology from Asbury Seminary – with wide ranging cross-cultural experience in church planting, pastoral ministry, and theological education across South Asia and North America.
John and his wife, Eve, have been partners in life and ministry for three decades. They have two adult children. John planted and pastors a church in Edmonton and has established Karuna, an evangelism and church-planting ministry driven by compassion, in one of South Asia’s most unreached regions. Karuna has trained over 120 native evangelists and planted more than 100 house churches.
The first overseas missionary to come out of the NAB 144 years ago was Emma Rauschenbusch, who, in 1882, traveled to South Asia. We now have this wonderful opportunity as the NAB to engage once again with South Asia through the ministry of one of our newest missionaries, John. South Asia has the largest concentration of unreached people groups in the world, so this is an important step forward.
Pray for John as he develops a team of prayer and financial supporters who will partner with him in taking the Gospel to the unreached peoples God has called him to – a people dear to his heart. You can learn more about John and his mission at his profile on the NAB missions website. To support him financially, you can give in either Canadian dollars or US dollars.
The NAB International Missions team invites you to a 30-minute prayer call for NAB missionaries and ministries around the globe. We meet the second Tuesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. (Pacific) on Zoom.
Join us as we learn about NAB missions and missionaries and pray together to the Lord of the harvest to send out more workers into his harvest field (Luke 10:2).
The next prayer call takes place June 9. Won’t you join us?

For the past 11 years, Paul and Tanya Gericke have been serving as NAB missionaries in Romania, helping to establish and build up Camp Falcon Rock in partnership with the Hungarian Baptist Convention of Romania.
As they step away from serving as full-time missionaries in Romania, they want to take a moment to thank everyone who supported them – spiritually, financially, prayerfully – and provide an update on where the camp currently stands and what is ahead.
There are exciting things happening at Camp Falcon Rock. Check out the video to find out more!
