Special International Missions Update on Cameroon

Operation 7-7 for Cameroon

Resources for your prayer time—

The Cameroon Baptist Convention Executive Director has established Operation 7-7 for Cameroon, an invitation for more than 7 million Christians to pray for at least 7 hours on Friday, September 28 (12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. PDT / 3:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. EDT). Would you join in prayer for the nation of Cameroon and the current crisis?
Pray for

  • A safe and swift conclusion to the crisis that has been ongoing for the past two years
  • The Cameroonian presidential elections taking place on October 7
  • God’s continued protection over Mbingo Baptist Hospital and Banso Baptist Hospital
  • The NAB missionaries in Cameroon and our Cameroonian brothers and sisters in Christ

From Calvin Hohn, NAB field director and director of Cooperating Missions for the Cameroon Baptist Convention—

The NAB missionary team in Cameroon is grateful for the concerns expressed and prayers offered regarding the ongoing socio-political crisis in the country. While the violence continues to increase each day, we want to assure the NAB family that we are taking all necessary measures to remain safe, while at the same time continue serving the Kingdom alongside our Cameroonian colleagues. A national presidential election is schedule for October 7th. As it is anticipated that the unrest will intensify during the weeks and days leading up to and following the election, some of our missionaries have temporarily relocated to less affected areas of the country.

Just this week, religious leaders in Cameroon published a declaration regarding the crisis. Pray with us that this declaration will be heeded and have effect. As a missionary colleague at Mbingo hospital has stated: “… this statement…expresses exactly what we see unfolding around us, and goes to the heart of the matter. This is a senseless war, and no one seems to be looking for a way to end it. The best we can do is try to mitigate the fallout by taking care of the wounded, but there has to be dialogue and a will to do something different at higher levels.”

We will keep this page up to date as we get more information. We covet your prayers and are grateful for your partnership!
