God doesn’t want uniformity, He wants unity. There can be differences, yet at the same time we’re organized around and find our identity in who Jesus Christ is. The church can be expected to have oneness in the context of diversity and difference. One of the challenges might be that we have to struggle through it.
Watch Wayne Stapleton as he shares this idea of seeking unity as Christ intended, reaching across the cultural, social, and economic barriers within our own communities to unite as one under the umbrella of God.
Partnering with Global Missions
NAB missionaries like Ron and Jeannie Seck, who work with Community Health Evangelism in Central Europe, are impacting communities for the Kingdom of God all around the globe. When Ron and Jeannie are able to work with a community to help their entire village, it can serve as a model for the surrounding villages for what unity, economic change, and spiritual unity look like. Missions Sunday is a celebration of this kind of deep and meaningful change taking place in communities through the sharing of the Gospel and the impacting of lives.
As North American Baptists, we take pride in the care and support we give to our missionaries. You can share in their efforts to preach the Gospel through giving to support the Global Missions Fund, which helps to provide NAB missionaries with an incredible level of support when they need it most. This frees them to more fully focus on leading people to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
Church Planter of the Week
Ken MacDonald, Southwest Community Church in Edmonton, Alberta. Ken and his wife, Marg, have served in the NAB for forty-six years and have discovered their love for church planting. Southwest Community Church is the first church plant out of Terwillegar Community Church. Both churches are led by Ken, who commutes seven minutes from Terwillegar to Southwest between services in order to preach at both. Southwest has experienced strong growth as it connects with its community. Every Sunday, a lunch is served after the worship service, allowing people time to get to know one another. Pray for effective connections with the community. Pray as well that everyone who calls Southwest home would be involved in a Life Group. You can find out more at southwestchurch.ca.
