A Post-Triennial Roundup

At the start of the 2024 Triennial Business Meeting on July 11, 2024, the NAB Conference moderator, Rev. Dr. Dana Goodnough, shared from 2 Corinthians 13:11: “Be of one mind, live in peace and the God of peace will be with us.”

A major decision of the 2024 Business Meeting was the election of Governing Board Officers and Members at Large. After a report was given concerning the process of securing candidates, each of the candidates were introduced: Moderator – Tony Campos, Vice Moderator – George Johnson, Treasurer – Jackie Loewer, Past-Moderator – Dana Goodnough, Regional Minister – Terry Fossen, Regional Minister – Steve Weisenburger, and Members at Large – Susan Bowen, Adrienne Jang, Jen Woyke, Curtis Reimer, and Chris Gorman. Considered as a single ballot, the suggested candidates were overwhelmingly approved.

There were also a number of reports given. . . .

Becoming a people of peace.

This was the theme of Triennial 2024, when we gathered as the entire North American Baptist Conference family in St. Paul, Minnesota, this past July 11–14.

At Triennial, we heard from Dr. Harry Kelm on Thursday night, sharing what exactly the peace of God entails. Friday night, Rev. Joseph Thomas talked about peace within the church body. On Saturday evening, Dr. Tony and Fabiola Campos spoke to us about our God-given role to be the kind of people who bring peace to the world around us. Finally, we closed out with a celebration of the 50th anniversary of handing over the ministries in Cameroon to the Cameroon Baptist Convention, complete with CBC Executive President Rev. Dr. Charlemagne Nditemeh in person to celebrate with us.

But this Triennial was about so much more than just hearing from distinguished speakers and guests. It was about connecting with and supporting one another, celebrating all God is doing and is yet to do, and elevating emerging voices in the NAB. This is also who we are as the NAB throughout the year. We cannot do this alone or without the faithful support of our NAB family, which is why we invite you to prayerfully consider your part in financially supporting our ongoing efforts with a gift to the Ministry Resource Fund.

When you give $50, $100, $500, or more to the Ministry Resource Fund, you are, in part, helping individuals and churches across the NAB – connecting them to other NAB leaders, celebrating and supporting what God is up to in our midst, and elevating emerging leaders within our Conference.

The NAB has a new logo! Officially launched at Triennial 2024, this new look is designed to communicate movement and transformation while also conveying the deep connection to both Canada and the United States.

For our icon, we came up with a shape that illustrates transformation. One shape becoming another. A people becoming something new in Christ, pointing upward to God as the author of this transformation. Additionally, the four different shapes that form the whole are a nod to the NAB’s Four End Goals that are so key to who we are as a conference of churches.

You can find downloadable versions of the new logo to add to your church website by following the link below.
