As we mark the weekly sabbath rest during this Lenten season, take time to meditate on today’s passage, reflecting on how it to relates to Philippians 2:5–11. Read it over a few times, being mindful of where the Holy Spirit invites you to pause to consider what he wants to speak into your life today.
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.Though he was God,he did not think of equality with Godas something to cling to.Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;he took the humble position of a slaveand was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,he humbled himself in obedience to Godand died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honorand gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5–11 NLT)
The LORD is my shepherd;I have all that I need.He lets me rest in green meadows;he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.Even when I walkthrough the darkest valley,I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.Your rod and your staffprotect and comfort me.You prepare a feast for mein the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil.My cup overflows with blessings.Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue meall the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORDforever. (Psalm 23 NLT)
