Community in the Missional/Formational Movement
“Blue Ocean and Ethos are all about the same thing: helping people grapple with the question, ‘What does it mean, today – in this context – for us to accomplish what Christ has call us to?’”
Rick Weber, regional minister for the Northern California Association, sets the tone for this month as we dig into community within the missional/formational movement. In this video, Rick shares the importance Blue Ocean and Ethos have played in the spiritual life of the participating NorCal pastors and in the ministries of their churches. All throughout the month of October, look for additional resources and tools focused on community in the missional/formational movement.
Opportunities for Ministry in the Midst of Unrest
In our continued attempt to keep you updated concerning the ongoing conflict in Cameroon, we would like to share the following information. The unrest continues with over half a million displaced persons, including some of our NAB missionaries. In the midst of all of this, however, God’s Spirit is moving and doing work—bringing peace in the midst of chaos and light in the midst of darkness.
One of the places that God is doing this is at the hospital in Mbingo. We would like to make you aware of two specific opportunities for volunteers to come to Mbingo and be part of this amazing ministry:
- Construction Manager: The hospital in Mbingo, Cameroon, is looking for a volunteer to come and oversee the building of a cement radiation “bunker” for cancer treatments.
- Surgical Volunteers for Mbingo: Volunteers should be board certified in General Surgery or a surgical subspecialty and comfortable working in stressful situations. Volunteering for two weeks or longer will be very helpful.
If you would like more information or know someone who may be qualified and interested, please reach out to Kerry Bender kbender@nabconf.org or Dr. Dennis Palmer palmerdd47@gmail.com
Missionary of the Week
Rick and Debbie Bardin, NAB Missionaries, Cameroon. Rick and Debbie serve at Mbingo Baptist Hospital in Bamenda, Cameroon. Rick is a board-certified medical doctor in Internal Medicine and Pathology, and Debbie is a staff nurse. They recently helped to organize a retreat for missionary pastors who serve in very rural areas in order to bless and care for them. The unrest in Cameroon continues, though Mbingo has been relatively free of any disruptions for the past few months. Continue to pray for a peaceful end to the civil war; pray as well that volunteer doctors would be able to take part in the training programs at Mbingo.
