Save the Date—Triennial 2021 Announcement!

Revealing Jesus Through The Word

By Kerry Bender
Interim VP of NAB International Missions

A Review of Without a Passport: Reaching the Global Community Living in Our Community by D.H. Bud Fuchs

It is in the transforming power of seeing Christ take shape within our lives through the power of His Spirit that we begin to understand how life works and our problems find their appropriate resolution in Him. If we look for the answers to life’s meaning and solutions to life’s problems, but don’t look for Christ, we will find neither in the Bible. If we look, however, for Jesus Christ, if we read and listen to the Word proclaimed, if we are attentive to Christ taking shape, becoming clearer, being revealed, then there is a good chance that we will find within the pages of the Bible both the Word of God who became flesh and the Word that provides answers to life’s meaning and questions.

Save the Date for Triennial 2021!

We are excited to announce that Saint Paul, Minnesota, will be the host city for the 2021 Triennial. Located on the rolling banks of the Mississippi River, Saint Paul is the capital of Minnesota. With some twenty-six miles of Mississippi riverfront, Saint Paul boasts a scenic environment with all the metropolitan amenities.

Among other reasons, Saint Paul was selected because of its convenient location for many of our US and Canadian churches—NAB churches can be found in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.

Update from Calvin Hohn

As the crisis and conflict in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon increases, so do the needs of the civilian population caught in the midst of it. NAB’s Cameroon Crisis Relief Fund continues to be a strategic means to meet many of these needs. Since the fund was created in November 2018, more than $58,000 USD has been given. To date, we have been able to assist 54 patients by paying portions of their hospital bills. Most of these patients are gunshot victims who have received life-saving surgeries. We have been able to assist more than 500 displaced school children in paying their school fees, and resources have been given to prison ministry workers to supply food, clothing, and medicine to hundreds of desperate people who find themselves incarcerated.

Along with the financial and material assistance given to those who are suffering is the care and compassion to see whole lives transformed. George Minang, a member of the CBC Crisis Relief Committee, states, “Our relief efforts are geared to listening to people’s problem saturated stories, sharing God’s story of love in Christ with them, while providing material assistance so that the combination can transform their life story.”

We continue to thank everyone who has contributed to the Cameroon Crisis Relief Fund. Lives are being saved and hopes are being renewed because of your generosity. We also ask that you continue giving. The conflict is far from over, and the needs increase daily and may be with us for a long time.
